i like to say that i was born as a story-teller. however it seems that it took me almost a whole lifetime to finally in 2003 give in to what i have always wanted to do, that is, to write. i have never let facts get in the way of a good story, fiction is what i write, it is my reality.
fortunately i was trained in journalism and science, meaning that in principle i ought to be clear on most occasions as to what a fact is and what the difference is between a physical law and the contraptions of a legal system, or between a fact and an interpretation. theories and stories i love; double contingency is my world.
i like to lead interactive workshops where thinking gets done collectively and collaboratively. i also need to spend a lot of time by myself working: reading, writing, drawing, synthesizing and creating.
in 2002 i did that which you are often advised not to do, that was, i quit my daytime job without having anything to fallback on other than unemployment insurance and whatever little financial reserves i had accumulated up to then. it has been an adventure ever since. i have found that i am ill-fitted to belong to the corporate world, and even more so to be part of the administrative establishment. on the other hand i have also discovered that what i like doing works magnificently for all in the corporate world or in government organisations when i am of service as a freelance worker.
Dannie was at LIFT06.
