In December 1999, I happened on a book of futuristic predictions published in 1980. AIDS was not even in a footnote. Seven years later, it occurs to me that climate change probably would not have been mentioned in a similar book published in 1999. So, one of the questions I bring to Lift07 is: what is it we should (right now) be paying attention to? As the mother of two human beings who will be my current age around 2050, I feel personally concerned with where/how/if humanity is going and the ways in which technology will set the limits. Meaning, I suppose, is technology going to push back what we consider our limits, or will we just turn out to have been chimps with great mobile phones? Otherwise, I am working on a little project concerning creativity (you define) and hope to hear something creative on that subject at Lift. I also look forward to hearing what participants have to say about Geneva itself, as I have the feeling that the place has experienced a tectonic shift in recent years: the fact that you are all coming to Geneva for a conference like Lift is indicative of that shift!
