Physicist
Organization: University of Manchester / CERN

I'm a Royal Society University Research Fellow based in the High Energy Physics group at the University of Manchester.

I work on the ATLAS experiment at CERN in Geneva. I'm also working on the FP420 R&D project.

My complete list of published papers, outside D0 and ATLAS, can be found here.

The Manchester forward physics conference web page is here.

If you know what POMWIG means, and want to use it, then go here.

The KT++ project homepage is here.

I completed my thesis in 1998 on diffraction at large momentum transfer at the H1 experiment at HERA in Hamburg.

Other Things

I'm working as the scientific consultant for a film called Sunshine, written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle.

As well as my proper job, I also work in TV and radio. If you want me for that, please go to the Media Information page.

I've had other jobs too ... I was a musician for quite a while. Here is a link to a history of Dare, the first proper band I played with, written by Vinny Burns. Also, there's a video of a gig I played in 1989 here.

I was elected a fellow of The Explorers Club in 2002.
