New speakers: Pierre Bellanger and Paul Barnett

November 9, 2007 - 11:50 — Nicolas Nova

Two bright speakers have been added to the program:

Pierre Bellanger, CEO and founder of french media group Skyrock. He turned his radio company in a new media organization by launching one of the most successfully european blog platform for 15-24 year olds, which now evolved into a social software company. Pierre will give us his perspectives on the evolution of new media and social software in the session about "on-line environments".

Paul Barnett, the Creative Director for Electronic Arts Mythic, overseeing the design of the upcoming MMORPG Warhammer Online. A pioneer in MUDs and MMO game design, Paul will join us for the session about gaming to describe evolution of the massive multiplayer environments.

Will Pierre Bellanger answer

Will Pierre Bellanger answer questions? Skyrock (ex-Skyblog) is notorious for being pretty tight-lipped, particularly in the face of criticism. Given my interest in teenagers and their online lives, you can imagine I'd love the opportunity to have a few questions answered :-)

Pierre Bellanger will go

Pierre Bellanger will go through the same process than other speakers, which is that he will NOT take questions on stage. The reason is simple: we think that doing questions on stage is not the most effective way to get the discussion started, and prefer to count on the fact you will have time to talk one on one with him as, like other speakers and according to our policy, we ask him to be present for the whole duration of the event.

We are hesitating on making things more formal, like having the speakers sit down at designated tables after their speech for one hour (as we have this one hour speech, one hour break rhythm). I am still pondering if that might be too much or not (i.e. comments welcome).
