Vlad is Research Associate with SAP Research in Zürich, and studies sensor networks in the context of entreprise service-oriented architectures, with a special emphasis on physical computing, interaction, and web technologies applied to embedded systems. He is also a PhD student at the Pervasive Computing Lab at ETH Zurich. Prior to that, he designed acoustic sensor networks to monitor tropical antbirds at CENS Group and the Department of Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Also, he worked on multimodal human-computer interaction, humanoid robotics, and computational neurosciences at ATR International Research Center in Kyoto, Japan. Vlad has a M.Sc. in Computer Science, AI, and robotics from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
