Jon Husband - From Hierarchy To Wirearchy

I noticed that you still have a spot in the Enterprise / Enterprise 2.0 area of the agenda.

I have presented a fair bit (including at ReBoot this past June) about the organizing principle I have termed wirearchy. I have been writing about this for about 6 years, and much of it is mmirrored by Gary Hamel's new book (Sept. 07) titled The Future of Management;

I have also just finished a book, to be published in January / February 2008 about the early impacts of Web 2.0 on Knowledge Management. The book also chronicles the emergence of Enterprise 2.0 and delves into software capabilities and architecture, collaboration platforms, etc. It will be published by the Ark Group (UK).

The above is just to establish some basic credibility.

I think a much bigger deal is or will be the continued emergence of the organizing principle of wirearchy and its implications for the design, implementation and managhement of knowledge work.

To that end, I recently developed a podcast in which I interviewd a recognized guru (Dave Snowden) about this. The podcast continues to gather substantial traffic after two months, and there is a lot of concise and well-argued information in it from Dave about why knowledge work is going to change so very much over the next decade. Here's a link to a blog post outlining why it is seen to be very useful (http://blog.simslearningconnections.com/?p=198)

I can and do speak to that in my presentations, and have often spoken (in Canada) about the workplace of the (emerging) future.

For what it's worth, I am also fully bilingual and could do the session in French as well. In the press coverage link below, I have included a link to a recent interview by the Australian Financial Review (Aus. and NZ) for its leadership magazine. I have also been covered by the Canadian press, and blog from time to time for Canada's premier IT magazine.

I would appreciate it if you would consider inviting me to speak at LIFT 08

Dominique Lecocq - clopathlecocq attorneys at law

Entrepreneurs have two concerns: developping a project and finding sufficient funding to launch the project. Most of the time, financing is sought from venture funds or business angels and may be structured as equity or debt. It is important that entrepreneurs pay attention to specific contractual clause to protect their interests and keep control on their project.

A 45 min. presentation.

1. Type of investment: equity or leverage?
2. Type of agreements: 1. Equity: (i) Shareholders Agreement, (ii) Voting Agreement, (iii) Share Purchase Agreement, (iv) Joint-Venture Agreement, (v) etc. 2. Leverage: (i) Credit Facility, (ii) convertible bond agreement, (iii) etc.
3. Bargaining Power between Venture capitalist and Entrepreneur.
4. Entrepreneur should pay attention to specific contractual clauses to avoid losing control of the company/project: (i) Voting right; (ii) IP rights; (iii) Tag alone clause; (iv) Drag alone clause; (v) exit clause; (vi) corporate governance; (vii) etc.
5. Going public.

----

Hi,

I have tried to submit a proposal for the venture night, the deadline being Jan 20th. It it still Jan 20th but I can't access the submission page (?).

May I still submit the following project ?

Url : http://www.swisscad.com/rewwwind/
Company : Swisscad, Geneva

Project : Rewwwind

Rewwwind suggests a new relationship between users and the Internet. It is intended for anyone who wants to follow content change in websites.

With the growth of available data on the Internet, we need to think about the way we receive information and how we organize our time to review new web material.
There are different ways like RSS to be instantly informed of news and updates on the Web.
For many web sites we're interested in, a weekly or monthly visit is sufficient, more rational and time saving than being constantly alerted.

Rewwwind tracks the activities on your favorite websites, giving you an overview of the whole site and all its pages recent history. You can travel back in time and see exactly what content has been added or changed.
Rewwwind keeps track of the pages you have already seen, avoiding to show you twice the same update.

Rewwwind is in private Beta since February 2007

5 min talk about 'Adventures of a real-life entrepreneur in the real world'

Hi there,

I'm the founder and manager of www.glocals.com - Switzerland's largest social network for expat managers., recently funded by Edipresse. I'm Geneva based.

If you need a 5-10 min 'filler' for any of your sessions, I'd be thrilled to give a short session on any of the below potential topics. My presentation skills are excellent (I work as a Presentations trainer for P&G and Novartis).

The potential topics I could speak about:

1. Adventures of a real life entrepreneur in the real world.
Including some amusing true tales about:
- the balancing act of setting up my own company while still working full time for P&G
- the chase to get funded
- making every cent stretch to the max on a super low budget

2. Finding the social Niche (or: facing facebook)
We are an ultra niche community, targeting expat managers. How did we identify the need for this niche, how we answer the need, and what is facebook doing to us.

Thanks for your feedback,

Nir

Joanna Macy - towards a more balanced and integrated approach for LIFT09

If we are to share an integrated programme, the perfect complementary speaker for the Technology as God tendency that these things have is...

Joanna Macy, Eco-Philosopher

To ground us in the here and now, on the earth, making pressing environmental prioriites central to what we are doing here.

"...in service to the revolution of our time: the "Great Turning" from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization."

To help us look at the fascinating world of deep ecology and general systems theory.

To be a strong woman, a voice of reason, an antidote.

To balance the programme.

Okay, maybe not a keynote but a decent place in the proceedings... if you are lucky enough to get her.

See also the passionate post at

Unplugging from the Net - a practical users guide

Moving now to the elephant on the table we're not hearing much about. Flesh. Not the stuff you cut to insert augmentations and enhancements (bbrrrrrr Dalek Sek aka the, ironically, very lovely Kevin Warwick). The flesh we press together. The stuff we make real love with, real friendships with in the here and now - in "meat space" as William Gibson calls it. The stuff that holds our organs in, our hearts, our minds, our real senses. The stuff that we bring together to create the reason and magic of conferences. The real energy transfer and aggregation.

Next year I humbly request a section, a thread, an ongoing reminder about the need to be grounded. To be HERE. To be on the earth, truly connected, not above and beyond it. That kind of patriarchal arrogance has gotten us into this mess in the first place. Read Joanna Macy's World as Lover, World as Self to get a grip on reality and priorities. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanna_Macy

Yes, I applaud the appropriate use of technology for the well being of all beings and the planet we all call home. No, I do not think the hype about Technology as Religion is being well balanced here at LIFT08 (with some noble and Nobel exceptions).

What about practical tips for unplugging. Having run TV Turn Off Week in Australia, I want to hear about Unplug from Computers Week. Dave Stone, a young upandcoming uber geek we know in digital Brighton has just come back online after a much needed break. I want to co-present with him next year in an interactive session that puts the focus back on the flesh. That reminds us how to reclaim our mental environment.

A quick search for "internet free week" or a chat with almost anyone at the conference would confirm this is necessary.

Happy to build something for user generated content to build and self support,
